{"id":1141,"date":"2021-05-19T21:50:49","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T21:50:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sarpidon-academy.eu\/?post_type=ignition-service&#038;p=1141"},"modified":"2022-05-23T18:59:30","modified_gmt":"2022-05-23T18:59:30","slug":"i-iereia-epi-ton-kathikonton-tis","status":"publish","type":"ignition-service","link":"https:\/\/sarpidon-academy.eu\/en\/ignition-service\/i-iereia-epi-ton-kathikonton-tis\/","title":{"rendered":"THE  PRIESTESS  ON  DUTY"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>THE&nbsp; PRIESTESS&nbsp; ON&nbsp; DUTY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>The&nbsp; morals&nbsp; of&nbsp; a&nbsp; ritual.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>The&nbsp; priestess&nbsp; preparing&nbsp;&nbsp; on&nbsp; the&nbsp; altar.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>The&nbsp; inscription&nbsp; was&nbsp; found&nbsp; in&nbsp; a&nbsp; sanctuary&nbsp; in&nbsp; Ancient&nbsp; Pylos,&nbsp; Messinia, Greece.&nbsp; It&nbsp; dates&nbsp; back&nbsp; to&nbsp; 1400&nbsp; B.C..<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">We&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; have&nbsp; neither&nbsp;&nbsp; a&nbsp; depiction&nbsp; of the&nbsp; original, nor&nbsp; any&nbsp; elements&nbsp; about&nbsp; when&nbsp; and&nbsp; by&nbsp; whom&nbsp; it&nbsp; was&nbsp; found,&nbsp; until&nbsp; now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>In &nbsp;the&nbsp; text&nbsp; we&nbsp; can&nbsp; find&nbsp; details&nbsp; on how&nbsp; and&nbsp; what&nbsp; the&nbsp; priestess&nbsp; should&nbsp; do,&nbsp; in&nbsp; order&nbsp; to&nbsp; prepare&nbsp; for&nbsp; the&nbsp; ritual.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">The&nbsp; text&nbsp; is&nbsp; a&nbsp; document&nbsp; of the&nbsp; rite&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; worship,&nbsp; which&nbsp; includes&nbsp; 2&nbsp; phases,&nbsp; the&nbsp; preparation&nbsp; and&nbsp; the&nbsp; implementation&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; ritual .<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">The&nbsp; phonetic&nbsp; values,&nbsp; as&nbsp; they&nbsp; were&nbsp; identified&nbsp; and&nbsp; phonetically&nbsp; transcribed&nbsp; by&nbsp; <em><strong>Ventris&nbsp; <\/strong><\/em><em><strong>and&nbsp; <\/strong><\/em>Chadwick, are&nbsp; the&nbsp; following:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>I JE RE JA E KE GE EU KE TO GE E TO NI JO E KE E TE O KO TO NO O KO DE KO TA NA OKE KE ME NA O O NA TA E KE E<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>We&nbsp; studied&nbsp; the&nbsp; phonetic&nbsp; values&nbsp; in&nbsp; the&nbsp; actual&nbsp; text. We understood&nbsp; it,&nbsp; we&nbsp; read&nbsp;&nbsp; and&nbsp;&nbsp; rendered&nbsp;&nbsp; it&nbsp; into&nbsp; Modern&nbsp; Greek,&nbsp; but&nbsp; we&nbsp; also&nbsp; approached&nbsp; it&nbsp; philosophically.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>Figuration&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; phonetic&nbsp; values&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; text.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">In&nbsp; our own&nbsp; view,&nbsp; the&nbsp; phonetic&nbsp; values&nbsp; are&nbsp; formed&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; as&nbsp; follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>IJEREJA-EKEGE-EU KETOGE-ETO-NIJO-EKEE-TEO-KOTONO-OKODE-KOTANAO-KEKEME-NAO-ONATA-EKEE<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">The&nbsp; language&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; text&nbsp; is&nbsp; <strong>Greek<\/strong>,&nbsp; <strong>Archaic<\/strong>, typical&nbsp; of&nbsp; any&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>Minoan&nbsp; text<\/strong>. Philosophical&nbsp; Approach:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">The&nbsp; <strong>priestess<\/strong>&nbsp; is&nbsp; the&nbsp;&nbsp; main&nbsp; person&nbsp; for&nbsp; the&nbsp; preparations&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; rituals&nbsp; on&nbsp; the&nbsp; altar&nbsp;&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; church.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">Her&nbsp; basic&nbsp; duty&nbsp; is&nbsp; to&nbsp; always&nbsp; switch&nbsp; on&nbsp; the&nbsp; altar&nbsp; and&nbsp; to&nbsp; prepare&nbsp; the&nbsp; cinder, before&nbsp; the&nbsp; sacrifices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">She&nbsp; keeps&nbsp; the&nbsp; altar&nbsp; switched &nbsp;on&nbsp; from&nbsp; morning&nbsp; until&nbsp; bedtime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">She&nbsp; makes&nbsp; sacrifices&nbsp; to&nbsp; God, either&nbsp; pouring&nbsp; sacred&nbsp; liquids&nbsp; (<strong><em>choes\/<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u03c7\u03bf\u03ad\u03c2<\/em><\/strong>),&nbsp; or&nbsp; through&nbsp; libations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">She&nbsp; burns&nbsp; aromatic&nbsp; plants&nbsp; and&nbsp;&nbsp; incense&nbsp; in &nbsp;&nbsp;the&nbsp; church&nbsp; until&nbsp; bedtime.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">The&nbsp; church&nbsp; where&nbsp; she&nbsp; officiates&nbsp; has&nbsp; been&nbsp; recently&nbsp; constructed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">For&nbsp; God\u2019s&nbsp; sake,&nbsp; she&nbsp; was&nbsp; always&nbsp; boiling&nbsp; water&nbsp; in&nbsp;&nbsp; copper&nbsp; pots&nbsp;&nbsp; for&nbsp; the&nbsp; sacrifices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">Mellifluous&nbsp; wine&nbsp; <strong><em>(\u201c<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u03bc\u03b5\u03bb\u03af\u03c1\u03c1\u03c5\u03c4\u03bf\u03c2<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>&nbsp; <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u03bf\u03af\u03bd\u03bf\u03c2<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u201d<\/em><\/strong><strong>)&nbsp; <\/strong>was&nbsp; a&nbsp; mix&nbsp;&nbsp; of&nbsp; boiled&nbsp; water, honey&nbsp; and&nbsp; wine&nbsp; for&nbsp; the&nbsp; divine&nbsp; communion&nbsp; of &nbsp;&nbsp;the&nbsp; &nbsp;female&nbsp; pilgrims, after&nbsp; pouring&nbsp; sacred&nbsp; liquids&nbsp; (<strong><em>choes\/<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u03c7\u03bf\u03ad\u03c2<\/em><\/strong>).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">The&nbsp; same&nbsp; rite&nbsp; is&nbsp; followed&nbsp; nowadays, the&nbsp; priest&nbsp; mixes&nbsp; boiled&nbsp; water&nbsp; with&nbsp; wine&nbsp; in&nbsp; the&nbsp; sanctuary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>The&nbsp; priestess&nbsp; is&nbsp; always&nbsp; a&nbsp; virgin.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">She &nbsp;is&nbsp; a&nbsp; woman&nbsp; who&nbsp;&nbsp; has&nbsp; not&nbsp; yet&nbsp; had&nbsp; a&nbsp; personal&nbsp; relationship&nbsp; with&nbsp; a&nbsp; man.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">But&nbsp; if&nbsp; she&nbsp; does&nbsp; so,&nbsp; the&nbsp; right&nbsp; to&nbsp; officiate&nbsp; is&nbsp; being&nbsp; removed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">She&nbsp; gets&nbsp; married&nbsp; and&nbsp; she&nbsp; leaves&nbsp; the&nbsp; church.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">Virginity&nbsp; and&nbsp; purity&nbsp; are&nbsp; the&nbsp; main&nbsp; elements&nbsp; for&nbsp; a&nbsp; priestess.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">When&nbsp; the&nbsp; Religious&nbsp; leaders&nbsp;&nbsp; choose&nbsp; priestesses,&nbsp; they&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; thoroughly&nbsp; examine&nbsp; the&nbsp; young&nbsp; candidates\u2019&nbsp; bodies. Even&nbsp; a&nbsp; small&nbsp; wound&nbsp;&nbsp; on&nbsp; the&nbsp; body&nbsp; was&nbsp; enough&nbsp; to&nbsp; make&nbsp; a&nbsp; Religious&nbsp; leader&nbsp; reject&nbsp; a&nbsp; candidate&nbsp; for&nbsp; this&nbsp; position,&nbsp; because&nbsp; she&nbsp; bled&nbsp; and&nbsp; she&nbsp; was&nbsp;&nbsp; contaminated.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">Thus,&nbsp; the&nbsp; method&nbsp; of&nbsp; choice&nbsp; was&nbsp; very&nbsp; strict.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">The&nbsp; chosen&nbsp; girl&nbsp; came&nbsp; to&nbsp; Church&nbsp; after&nbsp; purification. She&nbsp; started&nbsp; participating&nbsp; in&nbsp; rituals,&nbsp; and&nbsp; from&nbsp; time&nbsp; to&nbsp; time&nbsp; she&nbsp; became&nbsp; a&nbsp; communicant&nbsp; of&nbsp;&nbsp; mystification&nbsp; procedures.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">She&nbsp; was&nbsp;&nbsp; devoted&nbsp; to&nbsp; the&nbsp; church&nbsp; and&nbsp; the&nbsp; God&nbsp; she&nbsp; decided&nbsp; to&nbsp; serve.
