{"id":1133,"date":"2021-05-19T21:25:39","date_gmt":"2021-05-19T21:25:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sarpidon-academy.eu\/?post_type=ignition-service&#038;p=1133"},"modified":"2022-05-23T18:47:46","modified_gmt":"2022-05-23T18:47:46","slug":"eikona-egkataleleimmenou-temenous","status":"publish","type":"ignition-service","link":"https:\/\/sarpidon-academy.eu\/en\/ignition-service\/eikona-egkataleleimmenou-temenous\/","title":{"rendered":"AN  IMAGE  OF  AN  ABANDONED  CHURCH"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>AN&nbsp; IMAGE&nbsp; OF&nbsp; AN&nbsp; ABANDONED&nbsp; CHURCH<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>An&nbsp; excursionist\u2019s&nbsp; recording.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>An&nbsp; Abandoned&nbsp; Church.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>The&nbsp; Inscription&nbsp; was&nbsp; found&nbsp; in&nbsp; Pylos,&nbsp; Messinia,&nbsp; Greece.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>It&nbsp;&nbsp; dates&nbsp; back&nbsp; to&nbsp; 1400&nbsp; B.C.. <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">We&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; have&nbsp; neither&nbsp;&nbsp; a&nbsp; depiction&nbsp; of the&nbsp; original, nor&nbsp; any&nbsp; elements&nbsp; about&nbsp; when&nbsp; and&nbsp; by&nbsp; whom&nbsp; it&nbsp; was&nbsp; found,&nbsp; until&nbsp; now.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>In&nbsp; the&nbsp; text&nbsp; we&nbsp; can&nbsp; find&nbsp;&nbsp; images&nbsp; of&nbsp; an&nbsp; abandoned&nbsp; church, as&nbsp; well&nbsp; as&nbsp; the&nbsp; excursionist\u2019s&nbsp; mixed&nbsp; feelings.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">The&nbsp; text&nbsp; is&nbsp; a&nbsp; document&nbsp; of&nbsp; specialized&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; architectural&nbsp;&nbsp; knowledge&nbsp;&nbsp; of&nbsp; building&nbsp; a&nbsp; sanctuary,&nbsp; as&nbsp; well&nbsp; as&nbsp; the&nbsp; excursionist\u2019s&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; developed&nbsp; religious&nbsp; feeling.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">The&nbsp; phonetic&nbsp; values,&nbsp; as&nbsp; they&nbsp; were&nbsp; identified&nbsp; and&nbsp; phonetically&nbsp; transcribed&nbsp; by&nbsp; <em><strong>Ventris&nbsp; <\/strong><\/em><em><strong>and&nbsp; <\/strong><\/em>Chadwick, are&nbsp; the&nbsp; following:<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>WA NA KA TE RO TE ME NO TO SO JO PE MA RA WE KE SI JO TE ME NO TE RE TA O TO SOPE MA TO SO DI TE RE TA WO RO KI JO NE JO E RE MO TO SO JO PE MA<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>We&nbsp; studied&nbsp; the&nbsp; phonetic&nbsp; values&nbsp; in&nbsp; the&nbsp; actual&nbsp; text. We understood&nbsp; it,&nbsp; we&nbsp; read &nbsp;&nbsp;and&nbsp;&nbsp; rendered&nbsp;&nbsp; it&nbsp; into&nbsp; Modern&nbsp; Greek,&nbsp; but&nbsp; we&nbsp; also&nbsp; approached&nbsp; it&nbsp; philosophically.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>Figuration&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; phonetic&nbsp; values&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; text.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">In&nbsp; our own&nbsp; view,&nbsp; the&nbsp; phonetic&nbsp; values&nbsp; are&nbsp; formed&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; as&nbsp; follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>WANA-KA-TERO-TEMENO-TOSOJO-PEMA-RAWE-KESIJO-TEMENO-TERETAO-TOSO-PEMA-TOSODI-TERETA-WORO-KIJO-NEJO-EREMO-TOSOJO-PEMA<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">The&nbsp; language&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; text&nbsp; is&nbsp; <strong>Greek<\/strong>,&nbsp; <strong>Archaic<\/strong>, typical&nbsp; of&nbsp; any&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>Minoan&nbsp; text<\/strong>. The&nbsp; grammatical&nbsp; structure&nbsp; of&nbsp;&nbsp; the&nbsp; text&nbsp; is&nbsp; mixed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">One&nbsp; can&nbsp; identify&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>Pontic&nbsp; <\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;words, as&nbsp; well as&nbsp; <strong>Classical&nbsp; Greek&nbsp; Language<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">The&nbsp; utterance&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; words&nbsp;&nbsp; and&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; verbal&nbsp; types, follows&nbsp; the&nbsp; grammatical&nbsp;&nbsp; <strong>rules<\/strong>&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; Pontic&nbsp;&nbsp; Dialect, as&nbsp; well&nbsp; as&nbsp; those&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; Classical&nbsp; Greek&nbsp;&nbsp; Language.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>Rendition<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>of<\/strong><strong>&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>the<\/strong><strong>&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>text<\/strong><strong>:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>\u0392\u03ac\u03bd\u03b1 \u03ba\u03b1, \u03c4\u03b5\u03c1\u03ce \u03c4\u03bf \u03c4\u03ad\u03bc\u03b5\u03bd\u03bf\u03c2, \u03c4\u03cc\u03c3\u03bf\u03bd \u03b3\u03b9\u03b1 \u03c0\u03bf\u03af\u03bc\u03b1\u03bd, \u03c1\u03ac\u03b2\u03c9 \u03c4\u03b7\u03bd \u03ba\u03b5\u03c3\u03b9\u03ac\u03bd<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>\u03c4\u03bf\u03c5 \u03c4\u03b5\u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2, \u03c4\u03b5\u03c1\u03b9\u03b1\u03c4\u03b5\u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03bf\u03bd. \u03a4\u03cc\u03c3\u03bf\u03bd \u03c0\u03bf\u03af\u03b7\u03bc\u03b1 \u03c4\u03bf\u03c3\u03cc\u03bd\u03c4\u03b9 \u03c4\u03b5\u03c1\u03b5\u03c4\u03ac \u03c7\u03ce\u03c1\u03bf\u03bd<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>\u03ba\u03b9\u03c7\u03af\u03bf\u03bd (\u03ba\u03b9\u03c7\u03af\u03bf\u03c5) \u03bd\u03ad\u03b3\u03b9\u03bf\u03bd ( \u03bd\u03ad\u03bf\u03bd, \u03bd\u03b7\u03b3\u03ac\u03b5\u03c4\u03bf\u03bd) \u03ad\u03c1\u03b5\u03bc\u03bf\u03bd, \u03c4\u03cc\u03c3\u03bf\u03bd \u03b3\u03b9\u03b1<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>\u03c0\u03bf\u03af\u03b7\u03bc\u03b1\u03bd.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>The&nbsp; <\/strong><strong>\u03a4<\/strong><strong>ext&nbsp; in&nbsp; Modern&nbsp; Greek:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong><em>I&nbsp; am&nbsp; looking&nbsp; at&nbsp; the&nbsp; huge&nbsp; church,&nbsp; searching&nbsp; for&nbsp; the&nbsp; nook&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; altar. It&nbsp; is&nbsp; huge,&nbsp; too. A&nbsp; newly-constructed&nbsp; place&nbsp; for&nbsp; Psalms,&nbsp; but&nbsp; abandoned, with&nbsp; no&nbsp; voice&nbsp; echoing.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong><em>(<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>\u03a4\u03bf \u03c3\u03ba\u03ad\u03c6\u03c4\u03bf\u03bc\u03b1\u03b9 \u03ba\u03bf\u03b9\u03c4\u03ac\u03b6\u03c9 \u03c4\u03bf \u03c4\u03ad\u03bc\u03b5\u03bd\u03bf\u03c2, \u03c4\u03cc\u03c3\u03bf (\u03c4\u03ad\u03c4\u03bf\u03b9\u03bf\u03c5 \u03bc\u03b5\u03b3\u03ad\u03b8\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2)<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong><em>\u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03c3\u03ba\u03b5\u03cd\u03b1\u03c3\u03bc\u03b1, \u03c8\u03ac\u03c7\u03bd\u03c9 \u03c4\u03bf\u03c5 \u03b2\u03c9\u03bc\u03bf\u03cd \u03c4\u03b7\u03bd \u03ba\u03cc\u03b3\u03c7\u03b7 \u03c4\u03bf\u03c5 \u03c4\u03b5\u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2, \u03b5\u03af\u03bd\u03b1\u03b9 \u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03c3\u03ba\u03b5\u03c5\u03b1\u03c3\u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03b7. \u03a4\u03cc\u03c3\u03bf (\u03c4\u03ad\u03c4\u03bf\u03b9\u03bf\u03c5\u03bc\u03b5\u03b3\u03ad\u03b8\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2) \u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03c3\u03ba\u03b5\u03cd\u03b1\u03c3\u03bc\u03b1 \u03bc\u03b5\u03b3\u03ac\u03bb\u03bf \u03cc\u03bd\u03c4\u03c9\u03c2<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong><em>\u03b3\u03b9\u03b1 \u03c8\u03b1\u03bb\u03bc\u03bf\u03cd\u03c2 \u03c7\u03ce\u03c1\u03bf\u03c2, \u03ac\u03c6\u03c9\u03bd\u03bf\u03c2 \u03bd\u03ad\u03bf\u03c2 ( \u03bd\u03b5\u03bf\u03c6\u03c4\u03b9\u03b1\u03b3\u03bc\u03ad\u03bd\u03bf\u03c2), \u03ad\u03c1\u03b7\u03bc\u03bf\u03c2. \u03a4\u03cc\u03c3\u03bf (\u03c4\u03ad\u03c4\u03bf\u03b9\u03bf\u03c5 \u03bc\u03b5\u03b3\u03ad\u03b8\u03bf\u03c5\u03c2) \u03ba\u03b1\u03c4\u03b1\u03c3\u03ba\u03b5\u03cd\u03b1\u03c3\u03bc\u03b1<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>)<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>.<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>A&nbsp;&nbsp; Philosophical&nbsp; Approach:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">The&nbsp; author&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; text&nbsp; is&nbsp; an<strong>&nbsp; excursionist<\/strong>. Maybe&nbsp; he&nbsp; is&nbsp; a<strong>&nbsp; pilgrim&nbsp; of&nbsp; Holy&nbsp; Places.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">While&nbsp; he&nbsp; visits&nbsp; a&nbsp; recently&nbsp; built<strong>&nbsp; church, <\/strong>he&nbsp; realizes&nbsp; that&nbsp; is&nbsp; is&nbsp; abandoned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">He&nbsp; is&nbsp; surprised&nbsp; by&nbsp; the&nbsp; premises&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; church&nbsp; and&nbsp; he&nbsp; wonders&nbsp;&nbsp; why&nbsp; this&nbsp; masterpiece&nbsp; is&nbsp; abandoned,&nbsp; with&nbsp; neither&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Religious&nbsp; leaders&nbsp; nor&nbsp; Priestesses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">He&nbsp; enters&nbsp;&nbsp; the&nbsp; Church, he&nbsp; is&nbsp; looking&nbsp; for&nbsp; the&nbsp; altar,&nbsp; he&nbsp; finds&nbsp; it&nbsp; and&nbsp; he&nbsp; cries&nbsp; out:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\"><strong>I&nbsp; cannot&nbsp; understand&nbsp; why&nbsp; such&nbsp; a&nbsp; place,&nbsp; built&nbsp;&nbsp; for&nbsp;&nbsp; Psalms&nbsp; and&nbsp; hymns,&nbsp; is&nbsp; abandoned&nbsp; and&nbsp; desolate.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">This&nbsp; abandonment&nbsp; causes&nbsp; strong&nbsp; feelings&nbsp; to&nbsp; him.<strong> His&nbsp; religious&nbsp; feelings&nbsp; awaken&nbsp; his&nbsp; soul,&nbsp; <\/strong>he&nbsp; feels&nbsp; depressed&nbsp; and&nbsp; sorry&nbsp; for&nbsp; the&nbsp; abandonment&nbsp; of&nbsp; the&nbsp; Church.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">Which&nbsp; is&nbsp; the&nbsp; reason &nbsp;for&nbsp; the&nbsp; abandonment&nbsp; of&nbsp; this&nbsp; bright place,&nbsp; perhaps?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: flor;\">Maybe&nbsp; the&nbsp; war, the&nbsp; death,&nbsp; moving&nbsp; to&nbsp; another&nbsp; place?
