IAKOVOS  THOMOPOULOS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Doctor,  philosopher  and  author.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

He  was  born  in  1885,  in  Kefallinia,  and  he  died  in  1941,  in  Athens.<\/span><\/p>\n

Schliemann\u2019s  discoveries  in  Mycenae  and  Troia,  while  Thomopoulos  was  studying  Medicine  at  the  University  of  Athens, had  deeply  influenced  him  and  the Ancient  World  drew  his  attention.<\/span><\/p>\n

He   spoke  Arvanitika<\/em>  (\u0391\u03c1\u03b2\u03b1\u03bd\u03af\u03c4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1<\/em>),  maybe  due  to  his  roots,  and  he  made  a  huge  effort  to  interpret  ancestral  texts  through  this  language,  before  Michael  Ventris<\/strong>  and  John  Chadwick<\/strong>  did  so.<\/span><\/p>\n

He  had  been  criticized,  because  his  thesis  expressed  in  his  book  Pelasgika<\/em>   (\u03a0\u03b5\u03bb\u03b1\u03c3\u03b3\u03b9\u03ba\u03ac<\/em>),  published  in  1912,  was  not  supported   by  documents  and  because  it  insisted  on  the  Greek  origin  of  almost  everything.<\/span><\/p>\n

The  analysis  of  the  ancestral  texts,  as  this  can  be  found  in  the  book  Pelasgika<\/em>   (\u03a0\u03b5\u03bb\u03b1\u03c3\u03b3\u03b9\u03ba\u03ac<\/em>),  was  carefully  implemented.<\/span><\/p>\n

This  project  may  be    \u201ceach  researcher\u2019s  gospel\u201d  during  the  study  of  the  ancestral  texts, even  though  there  were  some  objections  about  the  reading  of  the  texts  through Arvanitika<\/em>  (\u0391\u03c1\u03b2\u03b1\u03bd\u03af\u03c4\u03b9\u03ba\u03b1<\/em>).<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
